The spirit of Aikido

Aiki is love. It is to make the heart of the universe one's own heart, with a spirit of protecting and loving all things. To accomplish one's mission with this great spirit is the way of martial arts. Aiki is to conquer oneself and to overcome the enemy from within. No, it is the path of absolute self-completion, where the enemy itself is eliminated. And thus, martial techniques are the means and the path to embody the principles of the universe and reach the highest state of oneness of spirit and body.

About Aikido

Aikido is a modern martial art founded by its founder, Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), who mastered the secrets of Japanese traditional martial arts and further developed them through rigorous spiritual training. In Aikido, one does not compete with their opponent by force or weakness. The purpose of Aikido is to develop the mind and body through mutual training and improvement with each other by utilizing techniques that are born from the movements of entering and turning and breathing power. Aikido does not involve competitions or matches as there is no ranking or competing with others. Through training together, one can learn to respect each other and cultivate a spirit of harmony.
